Fashion Captive: 10 days with NO internet!

Oh my goodness!!!  I have spent the last 10 days with no cable and no INTERNET!!!   For the first 5 or 6 days I was honestly fine.  By day 10, I was missing the interwebs!  I’m glad to be back home and connected!! :)

I had an amazing 4th, I hope you all did!!  I was fortunate to spend some lovely time at the beach!  It was a blissfully amazing experience, for the most part. :)

The first half of the week the weather was AMAZING, but the end of the week it turned out to be sweltering hot!  I AGAIN failed to get a ton of amazing pictures.  I need to invest in a tripod.  Then I can take pics myself without having to ask others. :)

I really enjoy taking the pictures more than actually being in them, but I have had little success with finding fashionable people who want their picture taken!  Weird huh?  So, if you’re fashion conscious, near central NC, and want to come play and take pics, let me know!!

Because all posts are typically better with a pic….here is what I looked like for a majority of the last 10 days.

Until tomorrow!

Hugs,
LC

Dress as a swim cover up:  Ella Moss

Note:  I really love finding casual dresses to use as cover ups.  If I want to run into a restaurant before or after, I feel fine because I’m wearing a legit dress!!

Fashion Captive: NYC

So, I told you guys I was going to NYC.  I was planning on getting some lovely street style photos, but instead, I shot some landscapes.  I’ll do better next time I promise!

I’m really trying to get back in the swing of regular posting.  This 90 ish degree, with humidity feeling like over 100 degrees outside, weather is REALLY not agreeing with me!

Going to the beach soon, so I’ll get some beach style photos going on.

In the mean time.  Here’s a few of the shots I got in NYC.

Fashion Captive: NYC

So it’s been about a month, and I have been absent!  There’s a lot going on in lauraworld.

I am taking a trip to NYC soon, and hope to get some fabulous pics to share with you all.  What better place to get some excellent fashion tips than in NYC!?!

In the mean time.  Here is a fabulous shirt I want.  I’m hoping that when I actually get to try it on, that it doesn’t make me look frumpy!

**Please note I didn’t take this picture.  I found it while online shopping and now I can’t find it again!!  ahhhh!

In yesterday’s blog I asked a, “what would you like to see more of?” question.  I got a great comment from Nicole of  lovingsimplemoments.wordpress.com !  I didn’t actually realize until her comment that I post a LOT of dresses!  haha

I, for some reason, LOVE dress shopping and that is completely reflected in this blog so far.  But I do realize that it is the easiest thing to style.  So, I’m going to try focusing on more complete outfits (ie:  skirts, shorts, pants).

The picture above actually was from a shoot last year.  I love the white button up under this green tank.  This is a great way to utilized a tank on a cold day or when you just need a little more coverage like in a work setting.

Thanks for the comment Nicole!!

Fashion Captive: Flowers and Butterflies

Don’t really have time for a full post today, but I remembered this skirt from a shoot we did last summer.  This is an adorable skirt that Rachel is rocking by French Connection.   It was actually worn by Taylor Swift!  If you want to see how Taylor Swift styled it, check out this link to another blog that posted it!

I love the print on this skirt and the summery feel I get every time I see it!

I hope to do a few more shoots in the next week, so I’ll have new pictures to post for you!  Does anyone have anything in particular they’d like to see?

Fashion Captive: Is it a Dress or a Skirt?

The Answer is BOTH!!  I love this Rachel Pally piece!   It’s completely versatile!

In the above shot, Addie is pairs it with an amazing denim jacket by Paige, and a blue scarf.  I love this casual look, and denim is definitely on trend right now.  Check out Jessica at What I Wore for her denim on denim Americana post.  I think I’m gonna give the denim on denim look a go in a future post!  Back to this Skirt/Dress…..

Below, Kirsten wears it as a stand-alone dress!  I think the simplicity is so chic.

For me, this piece is worth the investment.  I can wear it multiple ways, and make it look like a different outfit each time I wear it.  Plus, in case you aren’t familiar with Rachel Pally, her pieces are incredibly soft!  It’s beautiful AND comfortable!  Love that combo.  She also leaves a raw edge on her pieces so you can cut it to whatever length is best for your body!

Rachel Pally = Amazingness (so not a word, but should be :) )

All of these pieces can be found at my shop :)   Firefly

Fashion Captive: Firefly Grand Re-Opening

So, I took a brief hiatus because I was SO BUSY getting everything ready to re-open Firefly!  The Grand Re-Opening party was so much fun!  In addition to checking out the store, we had some amazing food from Anna Thai Cafe and had SO much fun getting our photos taken professionally by Aaron Khons of  Gain Composure Photography!

This event truly made me realize  one of the most amazing things about the store.  Because of Firefly, I have been given me the distinct pleasure of meeting some of the most amazingly talented, smart, sassy, and gorgeous girls that I could ever hope to find.   And I am able to meet more of these amazing people every day!

THANK YOU so much to everyone that participated in the opening.  And THANK YOU to all of the amazing girls that came.  The store would not be what it is without you.

Here’s some of the photos from the event.  To see the rest, bop on over to Gain Composure’s Facebook Page!  Be sure to check out the rest of Aaron’s work while you’re there!
